According to a report by Iran International on March 1, 2026, Iran appointed Ahmad Vahidi, a former defense and interior minister, as the new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Sunday.
This decision came one day after joint US-Israeli strikes killed several senior Iranian military commanders on Saturday, including Mohammad Pakpour, who previously served as the head of the Guards.
