Iran Is Currently Negotiating With The US Because They Don’t Want Us To Hit Them -Trump

According to a report by The Times of Israel on February 5, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump said, “Iran is currently negotiating with the U.S. because they don’t want us to hit them.”

Speaking during remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, Trump returned to the theme of military pressure, portraying the negotiations as a result of American strength and forward deployment. He framed the talks as evidence that Tehran is responding to what he described as a clear and credible threat, arguing that the posture of US forces has altered Iran’s calculations and pushed its leaders toward engagement rather than confrontation.

“We have a big fleet going over to Iran,” he reiterates in remarks at a National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.

Trump also used the appearance to revisit his claims about developments in the Gaza conflict. He asserted that his administration brought an end to the war, presenting the outcome as a humanitarian achievement and crediting US involvement with reducing casualties. He said the steps taken under his leadership prevented further bloodshed and helped stabilize the situation after months of intense fighting.

He goes on to boast about having ended the war in Gaza, claiming he saved “hundreds of thousands of lives.”

Turning to hostage issues and dealings with Hamas, Trump highlighted what he described as a breakthrough related to the recovery of remains, presenting it as a turning point in negotiations and leverage over the group’s future actions.

“We got back the last dead hostage, and Hamas helped us get it back. It was a big statement. Now, they have to disarm. Some people say they won’t, but they agreed to disarm,” Trump says.

He added that the disarmament issue would be central to the next phase of regional security discussions, indicating that the US would continue to press for compliance. Trump suggested that these steps would be necessary to ensure lasting calm and prevent renewed hostilities, while signaling that Washington intends to closely monitor follow-through on any commitments made.
