Hon. Adamu Aliyu, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that the opposition lacks a unifying political figure comparable to former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Aliyu made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he spoke on the current political landscape and the strength of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Addressing the perceived imbalance between the ruling party and opposition forces, Aliyu said, “In the opposition, there is nobody like Buhari. But in our government, the foot soldiers of Buhari are there with Tinubu.” The statement underscores his belief that the APC continues to benefit from the political structure and loyal base built during Buhari’s administration.
According to Aliyu, Buhari’s legacy within the APC remains a critical advantage, as many of his loyalists, often referred to as his “foot soldiers” are still actively supporting the current government. He argued that this continuity has strengthened President Tinubu’s administration and given the ruling party an edge over its rivals.
