In 2023, Tinubu Won His Village in Osun State With Only 36% of the Votes But This is an F9 – Melaye

Former Senator Dino Melaye has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 presidential election victory, saying it lacks legitimacy.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Melaye noted that although Tinubu won his hometown, his performance was very low.

According to Melaye, even with what he described as rigging, Tinubu secured only 36 percent of the total votes cast in his village in Iragbiji, Osun State, where he was born.

He described this as an F9 performance, pointing out that winning with only 36 percent is below the pass mark.

Melaye further argued that Nigerians will not allow any individual to impose totalitarian tendencies on the country. He claimed the current administration has faced a legitimacy deficit since it began.

His words: “We will not allow one man to force his ideas, his opinion, his totalitarian tendencies on Nigerians, right? It will not happen. And the problem with this is that this government has been from inception lacking legitimacy. Even with all the rigging, Tinubu won with 36% of the vote cast. Even in his village where he came from, in Iragbiji in Osun State, his original place of birth, 36% is F9.”

The comments come amid ongoing debates about the 2023 election outcome and increasing opposition activity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Melaye, a key figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), warned against any attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state or impose monarchical rule…..See More
