Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, took to his X page (formerly Twitter) on November 22, 2025, to compare Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho. He said that the difference between Kanu and Igboho is that Igboho never asked any of his followers to kill soldiers, police officers, military personnel or civilians.
Omokri slammed comparisons between Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), calling them “vacuous and ingenious”. He argued that prosecuting Kanu for treason while Igboho faces similar charges would not be double standards, as suggested by some.
He highlighted a key distinction between Igboho and Kanu: Igboho didn’t incite violence against security personnel, whereas Kanu allegedly did.
Omokri distinguished Sunday Igboho’s actions as focused on self-defence against killer herders and community harbourers, unlike Nnamdi Kanu’s case. He highlighted Igboho’s peaceful advocacy for an independent Oodua Republic, implying Kanu’s prosecution shouldn’t be compared directly to Igboho’s situation.
He said, “The basic difference between Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu is that Igboho never asked his followers to kill soldiers or police officers or any military or paramilitary officer or civilian working for the Nigerian state.”
