Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights lawyer and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to take a serious swipe at former Ebonyi State governor and Minister for Works, David Umahi. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that if he wanted to be entertained by TV Anchors, he should go to NTA.
The verbal confrontations between the former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi and renowned AriseTv anchor Oseni Rufai, during an interview in the television station, it can be recalled, had generated massive public attention.
However, in the aftermath of the heated verbal exchange which was widely condemned by many, the former governor had once again, come under intense bashing from Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights activist and legal expert.
In the recent statements which were shared on his official X handle on Thursday October 16th 2025, he made a striking comment that sparked wider conversations into the roles of television stations in massaging the egos of public office holders.
According to his statements, he pointed out that if David Umahi wanted television anchors to entertain rather than grill him, he should head straight to Nigeria Television Authority’s popular show, NewsNow and be entertained.
