According to a report by Punch, in a drastic escalation of pressure on the Nigerian government, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a powerful ultimatum, threatening to completely sever all financial and military assistance to Africa’s most populous nation unless it takes immediate and decisive action to halt the alleged ongoing persecution of Christians.
The high-stakes warning follows President Trump’s recent decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) for allegedly failing to curb widespread religious freedom violations.
In a series of social media posts, the President condemned the situation in Nigeria, claiming that Christianity is facing an “existential threat” from “radical Islamists” responsible for mass slaughter.
President Trump did not mince words, issuing a stern warning that not only focused on cutting off aid but also hinted at potential direct military intervention to combat the terrorist groups involved.
He explicitly stated: “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.”
