
A former Nigerian lawmaker has revealed why he believes Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan continues to attract public sympathy despite her ongoing suspension saga in the Senate.
Speaking in an interview, the ex-lawmaker alleged that Natasha has a history of dishonesty. He recalled an incident in 2014 when she allegedly accused him of making sexual advances at a state banquet. According to him, the claim was false because he was not even in Nigeria at the time. He said he only escaped disgrace after presenting his passport and British Airways ticket to prove he was abroad.
“She almost finished me. My life would have been over if I didn’t have evidence,” he stated, noting that the matter eventually ended in an out-of-court settlement in his favour.
The former legislator also accused Natasha of opportunism during an international parliamentary union meeting, where she allegedly sat in a position not assigned to her and pretended to represent Nigeria. He described the act as another display of her manipulative character.
On the current Senate suspension, he argued that Natasha should remain out of the Red Chamber until her multiple court cases are concluded. He maintained that her allegations against the Senate President and other politicians are mostly baseless and promoted only through social media.
