If Senator Adams Oshiomhole Wants To Grandstand And Be In The Newspapers, He Is Welcome- Yusuf

Former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Usman Yusuf, during an interview with The Punch correspondent, talked about the insecurity in the Northern region, his stance on government negotiating with bandits, among other issues.

When Prof. Usman Yusuf was asked about Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s claim in a viral video that insecurity in the North was linked to illegal mining and that top personnel were using choppers to move gold out of the region, he replied that Oshiomhole did not know anything about the level of insecurity in the North. He added that Oshiomhole was part of the problem in Nigeria.

He further stated that the 10th National Assembly was a “do-nothing” National Assembly, which had allowed the President free rein without providing any checks on him.

Further talking, he said, “He gets loans from all over the place, and this is going to cripple the lives of our grandchildren.

“They never checkmated him.

“If Senator Adams Oshiomhole wants to grandstand and be in the newspapers, he is welcome.

“But he is as much a problem for this country as the President is.”

Prof. Usman Yusuf went further to say that the 10th National Assembly was the most docile since the beginning of democratic rule. According to him, they never stopped anything and were only interested in receiving alerts while doing nothing.

He stressed that they did not ask questions on behalf of the constituents who elected them and described the entire 10th National Assembly as a failure.

He stated that they had failed Nigerians by refusing to checkmate the President, who was doing whatever he liked and violating the constitution in his appointments.

He pointed out that Sections 14(3) and 14(4) of the Constitution required the President to ensure that his actions reflected the federal character, but this was not being done and nobody was questioning him.

Prof. Yusuf also said the President was securing loans from different parts of the world, which the National Assembly approved, yet there was nothing to show for it. He emphasised that people were suffering daily, with hunger widespread across the land.

He noted that no senator, including Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was telling the President that his government was cruel or that he was not running the nation with the milk of human kindness. See, More, Here>>>>
