The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has called on the Nigerian government and citizens to appreciate Africa’s richest businessman, Aliko Dangote, for what he described as a major contribution to sustaining the country’s struggling economy. Speaking during a public address shared in a recent video on Facebook, Ayodele said Dangote’s business activities and investments have helped stabilize Nigeria’s economy at a time when many sectors are facing serious pressure.
According to the cleric, the operations and large-scale investments linked to Dangote have played a key role in preventing the Nigerian economy from collapsing completely amid ongoing economic challenges. He explained that the scale of Dangote’s businesses and the impact of his industrial projects have provided some level of stability during a difficult economic period for the country.
Ayodele also noted that without the presence of Dangote’s businesses, the situation could have been far worse for Nigeria. He said the industrialist’s contribution to sectors such as manufacturing and energy has helped keep parts of the economy functioning despite the broader challenges affecting businesses and households.
“I think Nigerian government or Nigeria as a whole should thank Dangote. Dangote deserves appreciation,” Ayodele said while addressing his audience. “Because this economy is supposed to have shut down. God has used Dangote to maintain this economy.”
The cleric further suggested that the impact of Dangote’s investments goes beyond a single sector and affects different parts of the national economy. He stressed that the absence of such large-scale private sector involvement could have led to a much deeper economic crisis.
“If not, the economy would have shut down completely,” he said. “If it was only NNPC, it would have been a different story entirely.”
Aliko Dangote is the founder of the Dangote Group, a multinational conglomerate with interests across several key industries including cement, sugar, salt and oil refining. One of his most talked-about projects is the massive Dangote Refinery, which was built to boost local fuel production and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
Ayodele’s remarks come at a time when discussions about the role of private investors in Nigeria’s economic development have intensified. While some analysts credit large private investments with supporting growth and job creation, others continue to debate the extent to which government policies should shape economic stability.
The cleric urged Nigerian leaders and citizens to recognize individuals whose investments contribute to national progress. According to him, acknowledging such efforts can encourage more contributions that support economic growth and stability.
“We must appreciate those God is using for the nation,” Ayodele said, emphasizing the need for recognition of people whose work helps sustain the country during challenging times……See More
