If Nigeria Youths Refuse To Join The Army, We’ll Make It Mandatory For Everybody, 18 And Above-COAS

A recent report by Igbere TV has highlighted a statement issued by authorities within Nigeria’s military institutions concerning the country’s ongoing struggle to attract new recruits.

The report claims that the army expressed deep frustration over the persistent unwillingness of young Nigerians to enlist voluntarily, warning that the situation could soon lead to compulsory service.

According to the statement cited in the report, the military declared, “If Nigeria youths refuse to join the army, we will make it mandatory for every body from the age of 18 and above to join.”

This remark reportedly reflects growing concern within the army about dwindling manpower, particularly at a time when Nigeria faces serious security threats across multiple regions

The report further suggests that the army is alarmed by what it describes as the disappearance or absence of those who were previously recruited.

The statement attributed to the military noted that, “The 10,000 we recruited last year are no where to be found,” implying that many of the individuals enlisted in the previous year may have deserted or failed to report for duty.

The situation, as presented in the report, paints a picture of an institution grappling with both recruitment challenges and retention issues.
