US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington will act decisively if Iran attempts to revive its nuclear program.
Speaking on Sunday at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, during a ceremony marking the 250th anniversary of the US Navy, Trump declared that his administration would “deal with that too” should Tehran resume its uranium enrichment activities.
The President’s remarks came as tensions continue to simmer in the Middle East amid ongoing efforts to solidify a Gaza ceasefire and reassert American influence in the region.
According to Jerusalem Post, Trump used the occasion to highlight US military strength, praising the Navy as “the greatest fighting force ever to roam the seas.”
“Docked beside us today are a combined 150,000 tons of pure American naval supremacy — and two colossal reasons why no one should ever want to start a fight with the USA,” Trump said to applause from service members and spectators.
He credited the armed forces with maintaining global stability and deterring adversaries from challenging American power.
Trump also touched on domestic issues, including the recent government shutdown, assuring attendees that the administration was working to restore operations swiftly.
Turning to the Western Hemisphere, the president announced that US forces had carried out another successful strike against drug traffickers off the Venezuelan coast on Saturday night.
“The Navy has been blowing cartel terrorists the hell out of the water,” he said.
“They’re not coming by sea anymore, so now we’ll have to start looking on land.”
