ICPC Confirm They Lied After I Deny Their Reports, They Should Charge El-Rufai Of They Can Prove -Son

Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, member of the House of Representatives for Kaduna North Federal Constituency and son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has challenged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to take his father to court if there is evidence of wrongdoing.

The lawmaker spoke on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following reports that the anti-corruption agency conducted a raid on his father’s Abuja residence. The ICPC had claimed that the operation led to the recovery of several items, including documents, electronic gadgets, and other materials. Among the allegations were reports of phone-tapping devices allegedly found at the residence.

Bello strongly disputed these claims, describing the ICPC’s report as inaccurate and misleading. He insisted that the commission had provided false information, particularly about the so-called phone-tapping equipment. According to him, media statements cannot replace proper legal procedures, and only a court of law has the authority to determine guilt or innocence.

“Let me correct it for you. ICPC confirmed that they lied after I denied their so-called reports. They should charge Mallam to court if they can prove he is the thief they claim,” Bello said.

The lawmaker emphasized that allegations made in public without legal backing are insufficient. He urged the ICPC to follow the proper legal process if it believes any crime has been committed, reinforcing the principle that guilt can only be established through a judicial process.

Bello’s statement reflects ongoing tensions between political figures and anti-corruption agencies, highlighting the challenges of verifying claims in highly publicized cases. His comments suggest a commitment to defending his father’s reputation while insisting on accountability and adherence to due process…..See More
