Popular Nigerian disc jockey, Kudi Gbemisola, widely known as DJ Kulet, has opened up about the emotional trauma surrounding her failed marriage, revealing that she ignored clear warnings and red flags before the wedding.
Speaking in an interview on Wasilacoded TV on Friday, October 31, 2025, DJ Kulet disclosed that a close friend had cautioned her just days before the ceremony, urging her to call off the wedding after having a recurring dream that hinted at misfortune.
“Do you know there was a warning three days to my wedding? It was in the week of that wedding that one of my friends called. She said she had a dream, and it was two different times she had that dream. My friend’s name is Joy,” Kulet recounted.
“She said at that time I had to put emotions apart and cancel the wedding. I said to myself, why should I cancel it? Who is she to tell me to cancel my wedding? That was three or four days to the wedding,” she added.
According to her, Joy described seeing a disturbing vision. “She said she had a dream that my enemy was naked, and I went back to my parents’ house, hiding behind the door, not wanting people to see me. She told me to cancel the wedding and not care about anybody’s feelings,” she explained.
Despite her friend’s repeated warnings and her own intuition, Kulet said she went ahead with the wedding, believing things would change afterward. “I didn’t listen. I was also seeing the red flags before the wedding, but I dived into it, thinking I would handle it after we got married,” she said.
She described the marriage as turbulent from the start. “There was no peace or rest. My spirit was not settled. I was restless during the course of the wedding and during the marriage. I was looking at what people would say. It was really hurting. I was pained,” she revealed.
Reflecting on the depth of her emotional distress, DJ Kulet compared the pain of her failed marriage to previous traumatic experiences. “In fact, I was once raped, but I never felt the pain like this before. I was raped by three men, but I didn’t find it painful. But you see, my crashed wedding was so painful to me. I felt it to my bone marrow. It hurts every time I remember, but I’m still happy that I passed through it and gained my experience,” she said.
