Nollywood actor and producer Damipe Adekoya has shared insights into how she balances her demanding career with her marriage, revealing that she maintains absolute transparency with her husband, especially regarding intimate movie roles.
The thespian explained that as a trained professional, she does not view on-screen romance or nudity from a religious or cultural lens, but strictly as acting and costuming. She noted that before accepting any role that requires kissing or intense intimacy, she informs her husband to prevent misunderstandings and protect their bond.
She credited her husband for being incredibly supportive of her career, adding that she made it clear from the onset of their relationship that she would never abandon her passion for acting because of marriage.
Damipe Adekoya said: “I’ve acted roles that I needed to kiss. Nakedness is a costume in the theatre. That’s how I was taught in school. So if you have to be naked in a scene, I don’t see it as a big deal, I was in a costume. There is nothing I can’t do in a movie. There’s a particular movie coming out next month, I kissed somebody in the film. I tell my husband, ‘Babe, I kissed in this one.’ Because I told him I’m not one of those people that because of marriage I will drop my career.
