I said years ago that someone accused of Al-Qaeda affiliation was given a ministerial post in Nigeria — Thompson

Security consultant Ladi Thompson has recalled how he publicly raised concerns years ago about how an alleged Al-Qaeda member was appointed as a federal minister in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Thompson expressed frustration over what he described as the government’s denial of terrorism links. “I said it some years ago that an Al-Qaeda member was appointed a federal minister in Nigeria. And I remember I said it publicly. Why is that happening in a nation? And why are we pretending?” he said.

Thompson referenced a 2012 U.S. Congressional hearing on Nigeria where controversial claims were made about American involvement. “I remember in 2012 there was a hearing on Nigeria in the U.S. Congress. And you would not believe the arguments that we heard there. Don’t forget, at my desk at that time, the American government—the secretary of state at that time—was funding Boko Haram in Nigeria,” he stated.

The security expert argued that the global political approach to terrorism has shifted significantly since Donald Trump’s presidency.

Thompson explained that previous international policy involved what he called “the pacification of terrorists with territories,” but claimed Trump represents a departure from this strategy.

He called on Nigeria to abandon what he described as denial and political maneuvering, urging leaders to take concrete action rather than engaging in corruption and financial manipulation.

According to Thompson, protecting the nation’s future requires decisive measures against terrorism instead of political posturing and wasteful spending that jeopardizes the security and prospects of future generations.
