
According to report by VANGUARD on Tuesday September 30, 2025, hundreds of business owners under the Trade Fair Stakeholders Association gathered in protest following the demolition of their shops and offices at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.
The traders, visibly distressed, accused the Lagos State Government of overstepping its bounds by tearing down structures that were allegedly approved by federal authorities.
The demolition, which occurred on September 25, was carried out under tight security, leaving traders unable to document the event. Many claimed they received no prior warning or contravention notices.
Among the affected was Mr. Ike Magnus, CEO of Magnum Merchandise Limited, whose flagship building was destroyed. He lamented the financial damage and described the situation as a clash between two powerful entities, leaving ordinary citizens to suffer the consequences.
