As reported by Daily Post, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced that he has directed the Rivers State House of Assembly to adhere to President Bola Tinubu’s orders.
He made this announcement on Tuesday amid rising tensions between the Assembly and Governor Sim Fubaru.
Wike expressed confidence that the lawmakers will respond swiftly and follow both his orders and the President’s guidance, and he also mentioned that he anticipates Governor Fubaru to meet his obligations in settling the conflict.
According to Wike, he aims to ensure that the citizens of Rivers State do not experience such political conflicts again, as he referred to the current scenario as one requiring immediate attention to restore peace in the state.
He emphasized that collaboration between the Assembly and the governor is crucial for the development of Rivers State, with both parties expected to join efforts to keep peace and order within the region.
The Minister urged a spirit of unity and cooperation among all political figures in Rivers State, stating that following directives from the President is a question of duty and respect for the national system.
Wike remarked that this should serve as the final move to resolve the conflict and encouraged both the Assembly and the governor to fulfill their promises and act in the best interests of the Rivers State people.
“I have instructed the Assembly to take necessary actions and respect the President’s wishes, which I know they will promptly do. I also trust that the governor will fulfill his responsibilities to ensure that this is the last time the people of Rivers will experience such discord,” he noted.
