Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse, a Catholic nun, has opened up about the challenges she faced before being dismissed from her religious congregation, the Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters, for alleged apostasy. Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, she said her ordeal began after she reported a case of sexual harassment involving her Head of Department.
She explained that after the incident, she started receiving pressure and unfair treatment within the convent. When members of the congregation visited her house unexpectedly, she fled to her parents’ home in Jos. The bishop later called her to ask why she didn’t come to the diocese. Not long after that, she began seeing online posts claiming that she was mentally unstable and had joined Islam.
Disturbed by the false reports, she messaged the bishop to find out whether he had permitted such damaging statements. She also went on Facebook to clarify that she was still a member of her congregation and had not converted to another religion, despite the rumors spreading about her.
According to her, these stories were deliberate attempts to frustrate her and force her out of the convent. She said that long before these events, there had been calculated efforts to make her quit religious life.
Rev. Sr. Kinse stated that she had always maintained that if anyone succeeded in making her leave the convent, she would not even remain a Christian, reflecting the depth of her emotional pain and disappointment.
