According to a report by the Daily Post, Daniel Bwala, who serves as the Presidential Spokesperson on Policy Communication to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has accused Al Jazeera of editing his interview in a way that he believes misrepresented his responses and sparked negative reactions online.
The interview, titled “Head to Head with Daniel Bwala,” was conducted by journalist Mehdi Hasan on February 11, 2026. According to Bwala, the discussion lasted about one hour and twenty minutes, during which he addressed every question raised and did not avoid any topic.
However, Bwala claimed that when the interview was published online on March 5, only about 49 minutes of the conversation were released. He noted that this meant nearly 20 minutes of the original discussion were excluded. He also pointed out that a much shorter eight-minute clip later circulated online, which he said highlighted only selected parts of the interview while leaving out important explanations.
Bwala further explained that the network had initially promised that the complete interview would first be broadcast on television before being uploaded online. According to him, the broadcaster later said that major global developments involving Israel, Iran, and the United States delayed the planned airing. Despite this, the shortened version was still posted on YouTube.
The presidential aide has therefore called on the network to make the entire interview available to the public. He argued that the omitted sections are necessary for viewers to fully understand the discussion and the context behind his remarks.
The interview generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing Bwala and claiming that his performance reflected poorly on the country. Some commenters also suggested the discussion cast the administration of President Tinubu in a negative light.
Bwala, however, insisted that these reactions were based largely on the edited clips that circulated online. He expressed confidence that releasing the complete recording would provide better context for his responses and help clear up what he described as misunderstandings.
“The interview was conducted in a proper manner. Questions were asked, and I responded to them. I did not deny any issue. My interview with Al Jazeera was altered,” Bwala said…..See More
