According to a report by Sky News, on October 10, 2025, Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’s chief negotiator, delivered his first speech following today’s ceasefire announcement, confirming the agreement’s terms and asserting that the terror group received American guarantees for ending the war.
In a defiant address, al-Hayya emphasized Hamas’s resolve throughout negotiations, honoring fallen operatives while drawing parallels between battlefield combat and diplomatic discussions.
“Just as they were men on the battlefield, so we were men at the negotiating table,” al-Hayya declared, characterizing the negotiations as another front where Hamas demonstrated strength and determination.
The chief negotiator stated that Hamas approached the agreement responsibly. “We acted responsibly in relation to [US President Donald] Trump’s plan,” he said.
“Today we announce an agreement to end the war, [see Israel] withdraw from the Strip and carry out a prisoner exchange.”
Al-Hayya claimed the terror group secured concrete assurances from international mediators.
“We received guarantees from the mediators and the Americans that the war has ended indefinitely,” he stated.
However, significant aspects of the agreement remain unresolved. Later stages calling for Hamas to disarm and Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza have yet to be negotiated, though Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar indicated earlier today that Israel is not preparing to resume military operations.
The Hamas negotiator expressed gratitude to Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for mediating the agreement, while also thanking Iran and Yemen.
Iran serves as Hamas’s chief patron, while Yemen hosts the Houthi terror group, an Iranian proxy that has launched numerous missile attacks against Israel.
Al-Hayya confirmed the agreement includes releasing 250 Palestinian security prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 prisoners from Gaza who were detained following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
The speech underscored Hamas’s attempt to frame the ceasefire as a victory achieved through steadfast negotiation, comparing diplomatic efforts to military resistance.Continue, Full, Reading>>>>
