Gov Sani travelled to Southern Kaduna, on his way, he stopped at Kagoro and sat with the Fulani- Maiyaki

Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, has credited the relative peace currently prevailing in the state to intentional policies and the proactive leadership style of Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

In an interview with a Nigerian Tribune correspondent, Maiyaki explained that since the present government took office in 2023, Kaduna State has not witnessed any significant religious or ethnic conflict. He stressed that this achievement is the result of careful planning and deliberate action, not mere coincidence.

He said the sustained calm stems from an inclusive system of governance founded on equity, consultation, and continuous dialogue with local communities. According to him, the state’s peace strategy is deeply rooted at the grassroots level, involving community members, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders in resolving issues before they worsen.

Maiyaki referred to the “Kaduna peace model” as a forward-looking mechanism that focuses on identifying potential conflicts early. He noted that community-based networks help detect warning signs in time, enabling swift intervention by authorities to prevent violence.

He recalled an incident in which some Kaduna residents lost their lives while travelling outside the state—an event that could have sparked retaliation. However, he said Governor Sani personally stepped in, meeting with the bereaved families and engaging relevant communities to reassure them and ensure that justice was pursued.

According to Maiyaki, this hands-on approach helped defuse tension and stop the situation from escalating. He contrasted it with the practice of issuing routine condolence messages, emphasizing that direct action and personal leadership involvement are more effective in maintaining peace.

He added that this leadership approach has deepened public trust in the government and played a major role in the state’s current stability.

Speaking further, Maiyaki recounted how the governor once travelled to Southern Kaduna and made a stop in Kagoro, where he held discussions with Fulani leaders and residents of the area. During the meeting, the governor encouraged all parties to embrace peaceful coexistence and strengthen communal harmony.

Maiyaki concluded by stating that, at the appropriate time, the government would release data showing the number of conflicts successfully resolved through the state’s early warning and response system.
