Marvin Yobana, a political commentator, has spoken about the recent comments made by Tonye Cole following the end of the emergency rule in Rivers State. He explained that Governor Siminalayi Fubara still has his full powers as governor, and nobody has taken them away.
Yobana, during an interview with TVC News, said the Constitution of Nigeria gives Fubara the authority and immunity of an elected governor. He reminded people that Fubara is the Chief Security Officer of Rivers State, and his powers are well protected by law.
According to him, Fubara is a man of peace, and his calm nature should not be mistaken for weakness. He stressed that the governor’s commitment to peace and order remains firm, and his role in the state is secure.
Yobana also revealed that Governor Fubara has shown respect to his political mentor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. He said Fubara advised all his supporters not to speak badly about Wike or use insulting words against anyone.
“He respects his benefactor, the FCT minister, and told all of us to respect him and nobody should say any derogatory statements or words against anybody. He respects elders, he respects constitutional authority,” Yobana explained.
Yobana concluded that Fubara’s powers are still intact, and there is no need for anyone to doubt his authority as the leader of the state.
