Activist and community leader Ann-Kio Briggs has vocally defended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara following his recent transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In an interview with News Central TV, Briggs addressed the barrage of insults and negative remarks aimed at the governor since his party switch.
Briggs contended that no one should label Fubara as a “fool” or “mumu” merely because his political decision is unpopular with some. She stated that every leader has the right to choose what they believe is best, and that differing opinions should not result in name-calling or disrespect.
She noted that only time will reveal whether Fubara’s decision to align with the APC will benefit him and, more importantly, the citizens he serves. Briggs emphasized that the outcome of this choice will ultimately be assessed by the future, rather than by the current uproar.
Additionally, she underscored that the people of Rivers State have the authority to voice their concerns if a leader’s choices are detrimental to their interests. As an advocate for her community’s rights, Briggs expressed that she would not hesitate to speak out if Fubara’s new political alignment proves harmful to the state.
In her own words, “Fubara, as I have said, is not a fool, and all these people calling him names—if I were him, I would be very offended. You can’t just keep calling a man a fool or a mumu simply because he made a decision.”
