Fubara: If You Don’t Tell Rivers People The Agreement We Had, I Will Tell Them Myself -Wike

According to Nigerian Tribune, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stating that he would personally make public the details of a political agreement between them if the governor continues to withhold it from the people of the state.

Wike made this declaration on Wednesday while addressing stakeholders at a meeting held in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

During the gathering, the former Rivers State governor reflected on what he described as the significant political sacrifices he made at the national level and argued that those efforts had translated into clear benefits for Rivers State.

He contrasted these gains with what he suggested were less productive political developments within the state itself.

According to Wike, the agreement in question was not informal or private but was reached openly and finalized in the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike emphasized that President Tinubu had fully honored his commitments, pointing to his own appointment as Minister of the FCT as well as the inclusion of several Rivers indigenes in key federal positions.

He maintained that these appointments demonstrated that Rivers State had gained considerably under the current administration.

He warned that continued silence from Governor Fubara on the agreement would leave him with no option but to reveal its contents himself. “If he does not tell the Rivers people the agreement we had before Mr. President, I will tell them myself,” Wike stated.

The minister also used the occasion to caution political figures from outside Rivers State against meddling in the state’s internal affairs.

He stressed that Rivers politics has its own unique structure and history, which outsiders often fail to understand.

According to him, interference from those unfamiliar with the state’s political dynamics would not be tolerated. “If you do not understand the politics of Rivers State, sit at home. Nobody will intimidate us,” he said.

Recalling past political struggles, Wike noted that his political camp had previously triumphed even when the federal government was hostile.

He argued that with the current administration now aligned with them, electoral victories would be even more decisive.

“Before, when the federal government was against us, we won. Now that the federal government is friendly with us, we will win more,” he declared confidently.

Wike explained that his visit to Eleme Local Government Area was primarily to express gratitude to the people for their unwavering support over the years.

He told the gathering that the decision to support President Tinubu during the last election had already begun to yield positive results for the state and its people. According to him, this support had positioned Rivers State to enjoy greater recognition and opportunities at the federal level.
