Veteran journalist Dele Momodu has responded strongly to criticism from former minister Femi Fani-Kayode, revisiting their long-standing differences and offering a personal perspective on Fani-Kayode’s background.
In a post via X, Momodu reflected on his earlier connection with Fani-Kayode’s father, Remilekun Fani-Kayode, whom he said he knew in Ile-Ife long before meeting his son. He used this comparison to highlight what he sees as a sharp contrast between the respected father and the controversial public image of the son.
In his response, Momodu criticized Fani-Kayode’s behavior, describing him as someone who has not lived up to expectations despite having access to elite education and opportunities. He suggested that instead of using his influence for positive engagement, Fani-Kayode often chooses confrontation.
Momodu also touched on politics, mentioning that Fani-Kayode had long hoped for a government appointment under President Bola Tinubu. He expressed disappointment that even with such prospects, Fani-Kayode remains involved in public disputes rather than focusing on rebuilding his image.
In his words, “I knew Chief Babaremilekun Adetokunbo Fani-Kayode, Q.C, SAN, of blessed memory, the father of David Oluwafemi Adewunmi Abdulateef Fani-Kayode aka FFK, in Ile-Ife, long before I met his querulous, garrulous and cantankerous son.”…..See More
