Femi fani-Kayode Reacts To The Massacre Of Over 160 Innocent Nigerians In Kaiama LGA Of Kwara State

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned the reported killing of over 160 persons in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as shocking and unacceptable.

Fani-Kayode made the remarks in a post shared on X on Thursday, February 5, 2026, reacting to reports of a deadly attack in the area that has drawn national attention and concern. He stated, “The massacre of over 160 innocent Nigerians in Kaiama LGA Kwara state is shocking and condemnable.”

The former minister expressed sympathy for the leadership and residents of the state, acknowledging ongoing efforts by the state government to address insecurity. According to him, “My heart goes out to Governor Rahman Abdul Razaq and the people of Kwara.”

Fani-Kayode noted that the state government has been making efforts to contain the security challenge, while alleging that internal collaborators are worsening the situation. He said, “I am fully aware of the efforts that they are making in the state to curb this terrible menace and it is unfortunate that some internal collaborators are assisting these murderers and are playing politics with the whole situation in an attempt to discredit and rubbish the efforts of both the state and Federal Government.”

He also acknowledged the response of the Federal Government to the incident, commending President Bola Tinubu for ordering the deployment of troops to the affected area.

Fani-Kayode stated, “I thank @officialABAT for ordering the swift deployment of troops to the area and I urge the FG to establish a permanent base for the military in that part of the state.” He further described the attack as one that targeted people across religious lines, rejecting any attempt to attribute the violence to a particular faith.

According to him, “It is clear that those behind these acts of barbarism and genocide are targetting both Christians and Muslims and this is unacceptable.” He added that the perpetrators should not be identified by religion. He said, “The killers were not men of any faith but are simply bloodthirsty barbarians from a foreign land.”

Fani-Kayode described the incident as a threat to national unity and security, calling for collective resistance against such violence. He stated, “This is an attack on our fatherland and our people and we must all rise up, join our hands together, support both the state and Federal Government and collectively resist it.”

He concluded by offering prayers for the victims of the attack. Fani-Kayode said, “May the souls of those that were brutally murdered rest in peace.”
