Ever Since I Found Out That Sleeping In The Afternoon Has No Benefits, So I Stopped — Funke Akindele

Popular Nigerian filmmaker and actress, Funke Akindele, has provided insight into her daily routine and approach to balancing work, family, and personal time.

Akindele spoke during an interview on the Morayo Afolabi-Brown Podcast on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, where she described how she structures her activities around her professional and personal responsibilities: “Let me just tell you my routine. Everything around me, I have work, I have family, and my crew members around me.”

She explained that her schedule is largely divided between professional commitments and rest, noting how she manages her time when not actively working: “So when I’m not working, I’m either sleeping, relaxing.”

Akindele also shared a change she made to her routine regarding daytime rest, stating, “Well, ever since I found out that sleeping in the afternoon has no benefits. So I stopped. I stopped sleeping in the afternoon.”

She elaborated on her decision, emphasizing how she now allocates her time more intentionally: “Because if you sleep in the afternoon, there’s no benefits. So when I found out, I’m like, ah, so why am I wasting two hours to nap? Let me open my eyes.”

According to her, nighttime rest remains a priority in maintaining her schedule and overall well-being: “That night, seven hours, eight hours is important.”

Beyond rest, Akindele highlighted activities she engages in during her free time, including entertainment and personal development: “So I can watch movies. I read books.”
