Even if these boys want Biafra, who are you going to rule when you kill all the Igbos- Orji Kalu

According to a report by the Daily Post on Monday, December 8, 2025, the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has shared that he met with the late Biafra leader, General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, shortly before the elder statesman passed away.

During an interview aired on Arise Television and followed by Daily Post on Sunday, Kalu explained that Ojukwu had told him that while the first push for Biafra had its purpose, any renewed attempt was unnecessary.

He also dismissed claims that he is less Igbo than others from the Southeast, stressing that his identity is unquestionable.

“I am a true Igbo man. I spent time with Ojukwu in the final period of his life, and his wife, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, can confirm that I frequently visited him. The General also used to come to my hometown to spend a few days,” he said.

Kalu stated that Ojukwu personally told him that although the earlier fight for Biafra made sense at the time, another attempt is not needed today.

“Even if these boys want Biafra, who are you going to rule when you kill all the Igbos? When you stop all Igbos from doing businesses?

“On Mondays, if business owners try to go out to earn a living, they are chased, threatened, or even attacked. How does that make sense? It is unreasonable and harmful,” he added.

Kalu further said that considering what has happened to Nnamdi Kanu, the agitators should have come together to seek peaceful dialogue and political solutions instead of continuing with harsh tactics.

He suggested that if the youths genuinely want Biafra, they should lay down their weapons, carry their flags peacefully, make their demands openly, and push for discussions or even a referendum.

He emphasized that even Ojukwu’s widow, Bianca, shares similar views and understands her husband’s stance. According to him, no true supporter of Ojukwu would endorse the destruction happening in Igboland.

“Let us stop tearing ourselves apart. Let us stop burning down our communities and ruining the little we have left,” he pleaded.

He lamented that economic activities across the Southeast have dropped drastically, causing hardship for residents, and stressed that the situation is becoming unbearable.

“These problems are real, and if we keep going like this, survival will only get harder,” he warned.
