El-Rufai Vs Ribadu: El-Rufai Is Struggling To Become A Hero In The Opposition Movement—Sajoh Reveals

A former Commissioner for Information in Adamawa State, Ahmad Sajoh, has described the ongoing confrontation between former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as politically driven.

Sajoh made the remarks during an appearance on TVC News programme This Morning on Monday, February 23, 2026, where he addressed the broader implications of the public exchanges.

Speaking on what he described as the motive behind the controversy, Sajoh said, “Look, there’s only one hidden agenda, and that hidden agenda is politics. You know, like I started, and I’m saying it again, that our politics is devoid of restraint, and that is not very good for us. El-Rufai probably is struggling to become a hero in the opposition movement.”

When asked whether the former governor was attempting to build a reputation for outspokenness as a fearless and fiery speaker, Sajoh responded in agreement: “Exactly, exactly. And so he decided to choose what I call suicidal courage. For you to announce in the public glare that you are privy to the committal of an offence, a criminal offence, that is suicidal courage.”

He added that such statements could have broader consequences for public trust and stability: “And then it even made it worse, because you are actually creating panic within the public, and then increasing the level of trust deficit that exists between the public and the government. And to what gain?”

He continued, “Because, well, if you are in real politics for the sake of the country, for the sake of the people, what you do is to try to increase confidence in the public as to your capacity to do better than what these people are doing. Not to say government does this and that.”

Sajoh also referenced El-Rufai’s previous time in office: “He was in government. Did he do it? Was it the way he ran his own system? And then you begin to tell people that an individual in government is wicked, is bad. Fine. Were you happy when people wrongfully had called you those names when you were in government? Were you happy? And the basis of our existence as a people, the basis of our faith, whatever religion we follow, the basis is that don’t do unto others what you don’t want done to you… Discover More News
