Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has emphasized that tackling the issue of terrorism in Nigeria requires a focus on the underlying ideology fueling it.
In a discussion with Trust TV, Gumi suggested that Nigeria should seek assistance from nations that adhere to international law. He pointed out that during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, South African mercenaries were engaged to support Nigeria in combating terrorism, and they performed their duties sincerely and effectively.
Gumi highlighted South Africa as a model of a country that respects international law, citing its opposition to the apartheid regime and its actions in international courts. He stated, “During Jonathan’s time, we had South African mercenaries who genuinely assisted us. Look at how South Africa took a stand against the apartheid Israeli regime, showing their commitment to international law. Countries like South Africa can provide valuable support when local forces are insufficient.”
