According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, October 20, 2025, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has expressed satisfaction with the current security situation in the state, stating that residents can now sleep peacefully without fear.
According to him, the security challenges that once troubled several local government areas have been largely addressed through consistent efforts by his administration since it came into office.
Speaking during a television interview, Soludo explained that his government had successfully restored peace and order in communities that were once under the control of criminal groups.
He noted that eight local government areas, including Ihiala, which were previously regarded as unsafe, have now been recovered and returned to normalcy.
The governor said this progress was part of his administration’s broader commitment to safeguard lives and properties under his five-point development agenda.
He recalled that, before his assumption of office, insecurity had crippled many parts of the state.
According to him, there was a time when people could not identify themselves as politicians or public servants due to fear of attacks.
He mentioned that police stations were destroyed, security operatives were targeted, and many communities were deserted because of violent activities by non-state actors.
Governor Soludo emphasized that his administration took deliberate measures to restore security and ensure that law and order were reestablished.
He explained that these efforts involved collaboration between the government, security agencies, and local communities.
Through intelligence sharing and community policing, the state was able to weaken the influence of criminal groups and rebuild public confidence in the security structure.
He further noted that his government’s approach to security goes beyond just deploying forces.
According to him, the state has also prioritized addressing the root causes of insecurity by empowering youths and creating economic opportunities.
This, he said, has helped reduce the attraction of crime among young people who were once vulnerable to recruitment by criminal organizations.
Soludo stated that his administration is still working to consolidate the gains achieved in the security sector.
He said that his government would not relax until every part of the state enjoys sustainable peace.
The governor maintained that his administration is determined to ensure that the progress recorded is not reversed, and that Anambra continues to be a safe place for residents and investors.
He expressed optimism about the future of the state, adding that the ongoing reforms in security, infrastructure, and governance will continue to strengthen Anambra’s stability.
Soludo reiterated his commitment to maintaining the peace achieved so far, assuring residents that his government remains focused on protecting every community within the state.
He said: “You had a state where, before we came into office, nobody could even wear anything that suggests you are a politician, and so on. Dr. (Chike) Akunyili was killed simply because he had a policeman in his car.
“Most of the police stations were burnt down, and even soldiers were decimated by these criminal elements.Continue, Full, Reading>>>>
