Buratai: This Was How We Got Here; Repentant Terrorists Were Welcomed With ‘Aso Ebi’ – Lere Olayinka

Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike has taken to his official X handle to point accusing fingers following the recent upsurge in bandit attacks. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he drew the public’s attention to a suggestion by former military chief, Major General Tukur Buratai.

The recent upsurge in bandit attacks across the country had stirred massive reactions, with many taking to different platforms to voice out their displeasure over the attacks and the inability of the security agencies to curtail or apprehend the perpetrators.

Within the space of just one week, a military general identified as General Uba was murdered in cold blood in Borno State while over twenty five school children were reportedly abducted in Kebbi State.

The incidents, which had grown to become a national concern, had sparked massive outrage, including from Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the FCT minister and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.

However, according to the statements which were published on his official X handle, he pointed accusing fingers at a former military chief, Tukur Buratai for dishing out a wrong and dangerous advice which had brought the nation on its knees.

Citing reports from a publication six years ago, Lere Olayinka pointed out that advising the government to consider employing repentant insurgents and giving them a special treatment was what led to the escalation in bandit activities.
