Bayo Onanuga Reacts As US Congresswoman Says Nigeria Can’t Be Bullied Or Threatened

Bayo Onanuga, the senior special adviser on Information and Strategy has taken to his official X handle to react after a United States Congresswoman, Jayapal disclosed that Nigeria cannot be bullied or threatened. Her comments came following the controversial designation slammed on Nigeria by President Donald Trump.

Many had expressed different opinions regarding the controversial designation slammed on Nigeria by President Donald Trump and the accompanied threats to impose sanctions and possibly, military intervention.

However, during a parliamentary parlay on Thursday November 20th 2025, a United States Congresswoman identified as Jayapal faulted president Trump’s designation, stating that Nigeria should not be bullied.

“I just wish we would stick to that playbook rather than bully and threaten a country (Nigeria) that is extremely important to us in the region. I don’t think it’s the right way to go on Truthsocial and threaten with guns blazing.” Jayapal had remarked.

The statements, which were shared by the special adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on his official X handle on Friday November 21st 2025, sparked massive public debate.

In her arguments, the United States Congresswoman had equally disclosed that Nigeria was a country of huge importance to them, hence, president Donald Trump’s threat on TruthSocial to invade the country gun-ablazing was not totally wrong, but highly unacceptable.

While the remarks from the United States Congresswoman was paid the apt attention it deserved, many were still unimpressed with the manner in which the narratives were being peddled abroad as the upsurge in insecurity threatens more lives and properties.
