In a recent statement via his official X account, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned claims that Christians are not being killed in Nigeria, describing such statements as insensitive and dangerous.
He said the country continues to face brutal attacks that target both Christians and Muslims.
He warned that denying these realities only fuels propaganda and encourages those responsible for the violence.
“The insensitive and cruel assertion that Christians are not being killed in Nigeria and that we bury empty coffins is a monstrous mendacity.
Christians are targeted and killed in large numbers in Nigeria and anyone that denies this, plays it down or says otherwise is a perfidious propagandist, a genocide enabler and specious liar.
What must be clearly understood however is that Muslims are also targeted and killed by the same terrorists in equal numbers,” he wrote.
In his post, Fani-Kayode said Nigerians must understand that terrorists are attacking all citizens, regardless of religion.
He stressed that Muslims also face killings and abductions in large numbers.
According to him, the attackers are driven by hatred, greed, and a desire for territorial control, not by any true religious belief.
He listed several recent violent incidents to show that the crisis affects everyone. He said schoolchildren, teachers, and clerics were killed in different states.
He noted that the victims included Christians in some places and Muslims in others.
He said the pattern shows that extremists aim to destroy communities and seize land, not promote faith.
The former minister said the groups behind the attacks focus on terrorising innocent people.
He said they kill, kidnap, and steal without remorse, he argued that such criminals should never be granted amnesty.
Instead, he said the government and the armed forces must take stronger action to defeat them.
