Special Adviser on Public Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, has clarified that the coordination between Peter Obi’s supporters, popularly known as the Obidient movement, and the Atiku camp is part of an internal coalition arrangement.
In a report by Daily Post on 31st December, 2025, Shaibu emphasized that Obi has long been involved in the coalition, and any structures or modalities established for collaboration between the two factions are considered internal strategy.
According to him, these arrangements are deliberately not disclosed to the public to maintain operational effectiveness.
Shaibu reiterated that the coalition’s focus is on strategic planning rather than public announcements, underscoring the importance of confidentiality in political coordination.
He explained that the internal mechanisms are intended to ensure that supporters from both Obi’s and Atiku’s camps can work together effectively when the time comes.
According to him, revealing such plans prematurely could compromise the coalition’s objectives and weaken their efforts in the 2027 elections.
He stressed that while the public may see announcements like Obi’s defection, the detailed operational and strategic decisions remain behind the scenes.
He has been a part of the coalition, so anything that has been put in place, any structure that has been put in place for Obidient and the Atiku team to work together, is our own internal arrangement.
“It’s not for public consumption, it’s our strategy. It’s our own internal strategy, it’s not to display it on the media,” Phrank Shaibu said.
