Amaewhule: You Were Given ₦350 Million And SUV Cars; Did You Give It To Your Constituency? -Sara-Igbe

In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, elder statesman and Ijaw leader, HRN Anabs Sara-Igbe, criticized the 27 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, for what he described as mismanagement of public trust and resources amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.

Sara-Igbe questioned the accountability of the lawmakers, asking, “You were given ₦350 million and SUV cars; did you give it to your constituency?”, emphasizing that the focus of elected representatives should be on development and service delivery rather than political maneuvers aimed at undermining Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

He argued that the current impeachment proceedings and attempts to pressure the governor were driven by greed and self-interest, not the welfare of Rivers people. According to Sara-Igbe, the governor has maintained patience and peace despite provocations, allowing governance to continue in the interest of stability.

The elder statesman highlighted that many local projects and constituency initiatives remain incomplete, and the distribution of resources, such as money and vehicles, should benefit the communities rather than being used for political point-scoring. He warned that the lawmakers’ focus on personal gain over public service erodes public trust and fuels tension within the state.

Sara-Igbe also criticized the lawmakers’ alignment with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing them of exploiting the governor’s calm demeanor to further their political ambitions. He urged accountability, transparency, and adherence to constitutional provisions as essential steps toward resolving the crisis.

He concluded by calling on Rivers people to demand responsible representation and reminded political actors that public resources and offices exist to serve the citizens, not personal ambition, stressing that sustainable peace and development depend on integrity and respect for the democratic process.
