All They Want Is Chaos In Oppositions While Tinubu Emerges By Consensus-Momodu On New Party Primaries

Veteran publisher and politician, Dele Momodu, has expressed serious concerns over Nigeria’s newly implemented primary election system, describing it as “hazardous” and prone to creating instability within political parties. His remarks, shared on his official X account, have reignited debates about transparency and fairness in the country’s political process.

According to Momodu, the new primary framework poses significant risks to the integrity of party elections. He warned that the administration in power could exploit the system by introducing fake or unauthorized members into opposition parties, thereby undermining internal democratic processes.

In Momodu’s word, “Their only objective seems to be creating chaos in the opposition parties, while Tinubu is expected to emerge through unanimous consensus,” Momodu wrote. His comments suggest that while ruling party candidates may benefit from a coordinated, uncontested rise, opposition parties are more vulnerable to manipulation and internal discord.

Momodu’s critique comes amid growing apprehension among political analysts and party officials regarding the potential for interference in internal party affairs. He argued that the current system could make it increasingly difficult to verify actual voter participation, potentially inflating turnout figures and distorting election results.

In his article, the publisher also highlighted the dangers of allowing outsiders to infiltrate parties with individuals who have no genuine affiliation or commitment to the organization. Such infiltration, he noted, could disrupt party discipline, compromise decision-making processes, and weaken opposition structures at a critical time in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

“This administration is acting irresponsibly by creating conditions that favor the ruling party while destabilizing opposition platforms,” Momodu emphasized. His observations reflect wider concerns about the concentration of power and the challenges faced by opposition parties in maintaining credible internal elections…..See More
