AFCON: Ndidi reveals only reason Osimhen, Lookman clashed during Nigeria’s 4-0 win

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has addressed the minor on-field clash between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, according to Daily Post.

Speaking to reporters after the match at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, Ndidi explained that the disagreement was simply a reflection of the players’ competitive nature and desire to achieve more for the team.

“It’s a really competitive attitude, and I like that because we want to have more,” Ndidi said. “Yes, we miss so many chances. It’s just when you really want something more and it’s not happening. So I feel really happy with the attitude because everyone wants more.”

The clash occurred despite both players contributing significantly to Nigeria’s dominant performance. Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, while Victor Osimhen added a brace. Akor Adams completed the scoring in the 75th minute, sealing a comprehensive win that saw Nigeria advance to the quarter-finals.

Ndidi emphasized that the incident did not affect team harmony. The Super Eagles remain focused on their next challenge, the winner of the Algeria versus Democratic Republic of Congo tie. The team will travel to Marrakech on Thursday to prepare for their quarter-final fixture.
