In an escalation of rhetoric amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, Mohsen Rezaei, a senior general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a member of Iran’s Expediency Council, warned that his country would sever President Donald Trump’s hand and finger if he proceeds with aggressive actions.
According to a report by Iran International on January 16, 2026, Rezaei referenced Trump’s claim of having his hand on the trigger, emphasizing Iran’s readiness to respond forcefully.
Rezaei further stated that should Iran face an attack, the nation would reject any future ceasefire proposals.
He indicated that once Iran advances its position, discussions about halting hostilities would cease entirely.
In his words, “If we move forward, there will be no talk of a ceasefire anymore.”
He accused the U.S. of ignoring Iran’s demonstrated restraint and strategic patience, urging an immediate halt and retreat.
Otherwise, he cautioned, no American military bases in the region would remain secure.
This threat emerges against a backdrop of intense geopolitical strain.
On the same day, the United Nations Security Council convened to address the Iran crisis.
The U.S. representative described Trump as a decisive leader, asserting that all possible measures remain under consideration.
