Reactions As Lauretta Onochie Said ADC Ticket Is The Most Credible Ticket In Nigeria Today

Former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie has dismissed claims circulating online that the 2027 presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has already been handed to a particular individual, describing such reports as deliberate misinformation.

In a post shared on her X account on Monday, December 22, 2025, Onochie addressed what she referred to as “usual suspects.”

According to her, “this should stop the fake news you manufactured that the 2027 ADC ticket has already been handed over to one person,” stressing that the party’s processes do not allow for pre-arranged outcomes.

She said that, “ADC is a party that is big on Transparency, due process and rule Of law. ADC ticket is the most credible ticket in Nigeria today.”

Onochie emphasized that all aspirants, “men and women, old and young, who are interested in this diamond ticket, will pass through ADC processes,” noting that “our ticket will not be gifted like Christmas or sallah gifts.”

Her statement sparked varied reactions from social media users.

One user questioned her political intentions, “You no go like come back to Nigeria to contest for Senator, house of rep, house of assembly or even local government chairman under ADC. Just come back to Nigeria, ADC wan take you do women leader to start with,” in a remark that appeared to challenge her influence within the party.”

Another user expressed skepticism about the ADC itself, sarcastically asking, “Are You Joking Ma? In The Same A-tiku D-emocratic C-ongress (ADC)? We Are Waiting For The “Big Bang”..With All Your “Conflagrant Of Overly Ambitious & Selfish” Politicians” I Laugh In Swahili..We No Go Help Una Settle The Fight Ma.”

Others focused on Onochie’s political history, with one user pointing out perceived contradictions in her current stance, remarking, “to think that someone who was attacking every opposition voice during Buhari is here doing shalaye. Nigeria na film.” A comment reflecting lingering resentment over her role during the previous administration.
