Israel: Bennett’s Party Leads Opposition With 20 Seats; Likud Tops At 26 As Coalition Holds 50

A recent survey by Zman Yisrael indicates that the Zionist parties opposing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fall one seat short of a majority in hypothetical elections today.

According to a report by The Times of Israel on December 19, 2025, the current coalition parties secure 50 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, while Arab parties gain 10 seats.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud emerges as the largest party with 26 seats.

The ultra-Orthodox Shas takes 10 seats, United Torah Judaism earns eight, and the far-right Otzma Yehudit obtains six.

Religious Zionism fails to cross the electoral threshold.

Among Arab parties, the Islamist Ra’am and Hadash-Ta’al each secure five seats, whereas Balad does not meet the threshold.

Zionist opposition parties claim the remaining 60 seats. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s provisional party, named Bennett 2026, leads this group with 20 seats.

The left-wing Democrats, centrist Yesh Atid, and hawkish Yisrael Beytenu each win 10 seats. Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party gains six seats, and the new Reservists party, focused on opposing ultra-Orthodox draft exemptions, captures four.

Benny Gantz’s Blue and White fails to enter the Knesset.

Under these projections, the existing coalition cannot form a government.

Similarly, the Zionist opposition bloc lacks enough seats for a majority without including an Arab party.

Certain opposition figures express willingness to collaborate with Arab parties, similar to the previous Lapid-Bennett administration that included Ra’am support before Netanyahu’s most recent term.

However, others consider such alliances impractical in the current political landscape.

This fragmented outcome shows ongoing divisions, with no clear path to a stable governing majority emerging solely from Zionist forces on either side.
