Human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has reacted to speculations surrounding a possible 2027 presidential ticket involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.
The question was raised by a netizen on X (formerly known as Twitter), who sought Farotimi’s opinion on the likelihood of the two political heavyweights working together ahead of the next presidential election.
He wrote: “Sir, many of us are troubled by the direction our beloved country is heading. As 2027 approaches, people are talking about the possibility of an Atiku–Obi ticket, and what such a unity could symbolize for a nation yearning for healing, stability, and purposeful leadership. I humbly seek your honest opinion on how such a political partnership.”
Responding via his X handle, Farotimi dismissed the possibility of an Atiku–Obi joint presidential ticket in 2027. He expressed strong doubt that Peter Obi would agree to such an arrangement or join forces with the former Vice President.
He said: “I wouldn’t have ANYTHING to do with it, and I do not believe that Peter Obi will commit such an act of shameless self denigration. Perish the thought, it will not happen.”
Here are the following reactions to his response.
