Ordinary Man Shouldn’t Lose Security, A Kidnapper Almost Got Otedola If Not For His Security-Momodu

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, politician and publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, reacted strongly to President Bola Tinubu’s recent directive banning police escorts for VIPs, warning that the policy could endanger citizens and be used as a political weapon against opposition figures.

Momodu argued that the directive targets the wrong group of people and fails to address the real security challenges facing the country.

He insisted that prominent private-sector figures and ordinary Nigerians should not be stripped of their security, stressing that the true beneficiaries of state-funded protection are politicians who misuse power and public resources.

He stated, “As a matter of fact, those who should lose their security are those politicians in Abuja and not the ordinary man, not Aliko Dangote, not Abdul Samad Rabiu. Imagine a time when a kidnapper said he almost got Femi Otedola if not for his heavy security. So you will see I’ve said it again today when tomorrow comes and events begin to unfold, you will remember that only one man warned you that this is part of the plot to suffocate the opposition.”

Momodu emphasized that high-profile business leaders like Dangote, Rabiu, and Otedola contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economy and are frequent targets of criminal groups.

He further suggested that the policy may be politically motivated, pointing to a perceived pattern of actions aimed at weakening dissenting voices.

Momodu urged the government to reconsider the directive and instead focus on strengthening national security institutions, ensuring that all citizens regardless of status or political affiliation are adequately protected.
