Businessman and political analyst, Dr. Mobolaji Ogbamola has expressed deep concern over a viral social media video which he claims shows two young boys spraying money on their mothers while offering prayers he believes were directed at Boko Haram.
Ogbamola made the statement during an interview on Voice of the People TV, where he warned that the behaviour captured in the clip should not be taken lightly.
Recalling what he witnessed, Ogbamola said the video immediately struck him as disturbing and indicative of a worrying trend among some youths. “I was watching a video the other day and I saw two young boys were shelling monies on their mothers and they were praying in Arabic and I heard them praying for Boko Haram,” he said.
He argued that while spraying money during celebrations is common in some communities, the content of the prayers being offered in the clip raises significant security concerns. According to him, the possibility that minors may be openly expressing support for an extremist organisations even within a domestic setting should prompt urgent inquiry.
Ogbamola stressed that Nigeria must be vigilant about subtle signs of radicalisation that may appear in everyday interactions or online content, particularly at a time when extremist groups continue to pose threats in various regions. He warned that the spread of such videos on social media could normalise dangerous ideologies if not properly addressed.
The political analyst called on security agencies to investigate the video and determine its origins, noting that early detection of radical influences is crucial in preventing deeper indoctrination. He also urged parents, guardians and community leaders to pay closer attention to the information, language and symbols young people are exposed to, both online and offline.
