According to a report by The Times of Israel, freed hostage Yosef-Haim Ohana has been released from rehabilitation and returned to his home in Kiryat Malachi, six weeks after emerging from captivity in Gaza.
Ohana completed his recovery period at Kfar Hamaccabiah in Ramat Gan, where many released hostages have been housed while receiving ongoing medical and psychological treatment.
Ohana was abducted on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas-led attack on the Nova desert rave. He was among the final group of 20 living hostages freed on October 13, following nearly a year in captivity. His release marked one of the concluding stages of the negotiated handover that brought home dozens of hostages seized during the initial assault.
Throughout the past six weeks, Ohana has left Kfar Hamaccabiah several times as part of his reintegration process. One of the most notable moments came when he traveled to Washington, DC, along with other freed hostages to meet US President Donald Trump. The visit formed part of the wider efforts to raise international attention to the experiences of those abducted and the ongoing situation concerning remaining captives.
While Ohana has now returned home, several other released hostages continue to stay at the Ramat Gan hotel. Many of them are still undergoing treatment in nearby hospitals, receiving support for the physical and emotional impacts of their time in captivity. Health teams have been working closely with these individuals to provide long-term rehabilitation tailored to their conditions.
Ohana is expected to continue receiving support from local services as he resumes life in Kiryat Malachi following the end of his rehabilitation stay.
