Nobody Including Hamas Knows Where Son’s Body Is, Praying We Won’t Carry This Burden For Years”Gvili

According to a report by Times of Israel, on Thursday November 27, 2025, Itzik Gvili, whose son Master Sergeant Ran Gvili represents the last Israeli fatality held in Gaza, has revealed that the location of his son’s remains remains unknown to all parties, including the terror groups controlling the territory.

In an interview with Kan broadcaster, the grieving father expressed his fervent hope that his family would not endure prolonged suffering similar to other cases that have haunted Israeli families for years or decades.

Gvili specifically mentioned his prayers that his son’s situation would not resemble Lieutenant Hadar Goldin’s case, whose body was held in Gaza for over ten years following his 2014 death before being returned recently. He also invoked Ron Arad, an Israeli Air Force navigator whose status has remained uncertain since 1988, as examples of the extended anguish families can face.

Despite these fears, the father acknowledged that his family continues moving forward because circumstances demand it, even as they grapple with unimaginable loss.

Regarding Hamas’s statements about searching for his son’s body, Gvili told Kan that the organization’s claims ring hollow, as no meaningful progress has been observed. He characterized their actions as game-playing and deception directed at his family.

Master Sergeant Ran Gvili was killed while combating Hamas terrorists at Kibbutz Alumim on October 7, 2023. Following his death, terrorists abducted his body into Gaza.

He is among the final two deceased hostages remaining in the territory. The other is Sudthisak Rinthalak, a Thai national who worked as an agricultural worker at Kibbutz Be’eri and was killed during the Hamas attacks.
