Former Governor Ayo Fayose has stated that he made genuine efforts to settle his long-running feud with former President Olusegun Obasanjo before his 65th birthday celebration. Fayose said he personally visited Obasanjo’s home to make peace and to invite him to the birthday event.
According to a report by The Cable on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Fayose said he also provided Obasanjo with money to support his travel arrangements to the birthday venue. He stated that he converted 20,000 dollars into naira and handed it to Obasanjo
Fayose said that during the event, Obasanjo delivered a speech filled with comments he considered insulting. He said Obasanjo’s words were full of hidden jabs and veiled attacks aimed at him. He said Obasanjo was clearly not ready to make peace with him. In his words: “I changed $20,000 and gave it to him. How can you accept somebody’s money and come and be spiting that person?
