I must be buried within four weeks, after my departure, nobody must come there again- Ayodele Fayose

As reported by Vanguard Newspaper, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has clearly outlined his burial wishes, stating that his remains should be laid to rest within four weeks of his passing and that no one should visit his gravesite afterward. The 65-year-old politician made this announcement in a six-minute video released by City Edge TV during his birthday celebration.

Fayose stated, “Remember me however you like. When I die, I want to emphasize this: death is certain. My body will belong to the Ekiti State Government… I will send a letter to the governor.” He explained that the state must take charge of his body as soon as he dies, regardless of when that may be: “Let’s say in 20, 30, or even 15 years, for God’s glory, the Ekiti State Government will take custody of my body, and I must be buried within four weeks. Since the state may not be prepared within two or three days, we are allowing them a maximum of four weeks.”

He designated his grandmother’s house as his burial site and insisted, “Once I’m gone, no one should come there again. Let me rest. If you wish to honor me, do it now.” He urged his children to strictly adhere to government procedures and wear personal attire at the funeral.

The video also included a performance by music icon King Sunny Ade at Fayose’s birthday thanksgiving. Political figures like Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike praised Fayose’s grassroots impact and straightforwardness, with Oyebanji calling him “a leader who deeply connects with the people” and Wike referring to him as “a dear friend and brother.
