An Image Of Prophet Muhammad Was Defaced In France, There Were Killings Of Christians- Adefarasin

In a video shared by Arise News, Pastor Wale Adefarasin, the General Overseer of Guiding Light Assembly, reflected on the persistent religious violence that has plagued Nigeria for decades.

Speaking passionately, the cleric lamented the recurring loss of lives due to sectarian crises, particularly in regions like Southern Kaduna and Plateau State.

He noted that such conflicts are not new and have continued despite the nation’s progress in other areas.

“For the over 40 years that I have been a Christian, there have been killings in southern Kaduna, killings on the plateau. There have been riots sometimes if I think it was in France an image of Prophet Muhammad was defaced. Who remembers that? And as a result of that there were killings of Christians in Nigeria. And so it’s nothing new,” Pastor Adefarasin stated, underscoring the longstanding nature of the violence.

The respected preacher emphasized that Nigeria must confront the underlying causes of religious intolerance and tribal animosity, rather than merely reacting to each wave of violence.

He expressed concern that such patterns have persisted through successive governments, often fueled by misinterpretations of faith and failure of leadership to enforce justice.

Adefarasin’s remarks come at a time when renewed clashes and tensions in parts of the Middle Belt have once again drawn attention to Nigeria’s fragile interreligious harmony.

His comments serve as both a lament and a call for introspection within the Christian community and the nation at large.
